Who we are

	Pierre Balsam - Founder and Senior Leader Pierre is the founder and leading guide of Wildlifers Spain Tours, a company that has specialised since 2007 on Western Iberian peninsula as a dedicated birding and wildlife tour operator. Pierre developed a passion for outdoor pursuits in his youth, with rock climbing and birding being two of his abiding interests. He has travelled extensively across the wilder places of Europe, and seen a lot of South America. Pierre is multilingual and worked for several global companies before focusing his energy on outdoor education activities. For the last four years, Pierre has been organising his own tour groups in Spain, as well as leading tours for other companies. He has a special interest for the Wild Europe Initiative.
	Roger Holtum - Senior Leader Whether meeting VIPs at the airport or organising official lunches for dignitaries, many of Roger’s tour-guide skills were honed during his former career as a diplomat. Born in Dar-es-Salaam, Roger’s interest in birds started as a child when he inherited his older brother’s field guide. However, a serious interest in ornithology didn’t start until he moved to Uganda in the early ’90s. Roger subsequently organised family birding safaris in Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the USA and Australia, as well as in many European countries, from Finland to Gibraltar. Roger is also interested in botany and entomology.
	Maria Teresa Perez - Communication - Programs Maria Teresa has managed environmental projects for Special Areas of Protection for birds in her native Spain. She is specialised in Environmental Law. She got involved on a series of collaborative projects with the UNEP and EU Institutions, concluded her studies with a PhD on the juridical aspects of transboundary movements of dangerous goods (with honours). She now continues to provide her expertise on some key environmental topics. She speaks fluently 4 languages, is practical minded and is an unvaluable contribution to Wildlifers Tours. Teresa is a key contributor in what makes us able to provide a 'one stop' travel package covering specialist birding and wildlife tours as our principal offering with culture and culinary tours for variation.
Our team is composed of Tour guides who are fully qualified members of the Field Guides Association and endorsed by Bird Life Spain (SEO).
